Today, we bring 2018 to a close with a very special episode we are calling “person on the street.” We asked random people on the street questions about eating disorders and dieting, to try to expose the lack of information the general public has on eating disorders. We wanted to publish this episode unedited so you could get a sense of what people are thinking. What you will hear next, is a series of short interviews we conducted and our summary at the end. Please note, this was a non-scientific survey. We ask you to take this information to guide you in 2019 to help with education, recovery, and prevention.

Today, Kathy is joined by Jaime Kaplan, Psy.D. and their topic is the pros and cons of technology’s role in connection with eating disorders recovery. As we know, disconnection plays a large role in eating disorders, and technology can help connect people, yet also disconnect us from others and from our own “true” selves.

Dec 17, 2018

Today, Kathy is joined by Cris E. Haltom, PhD, CEDS, and Mary Tantillo, PhD, PMHCNS-BC, FAED, CGP, and their topic is understanding teens and their stories of courage in eating disorder recovery. They take time to discuss the uniqueness of teens and provide some real-life recovery stories from their practices.

Dec 10, 2018

Today, Kathy welcomes Jessica Gillespie, MA, LMFT, and their topic is eating disorders and the depth of disconnections. Eating disorders create disconnections from the body, oneself, and others, and thrive in isolation. We are happy to have Jessica on to discuss this important topic.

Dec 3, 2018

Today, Kathy welcomes Melainie Rogers, MS, RDN, CDN, CEDRD, and their topic is why diets don’t work. They delve into the paradox of how dieting and weight gain go hand in hand, the science behind it, and how it all relates to eating disorders. The information in this episode is so significant we are asking everyone who listens to share it with someone to help spread the word so more people can educate themselves and others on why diets don’t work.
